Software Upgradability — New Features, Same Hardware
StormAudio releases regular firmware updates across its entire product range. These updates bring new immersive format support, calibration improvements and interface refinements to processors already installed in the field. An installation commissioned two years ago receives the same software capabilities as a unit shipped today — at no additional cost, and without any hardware intervention.
For integrators, this means a system keeps gaining capabilities after handover, and the client’s investment is no longer tied to the features available on the day of installation.
Software also governs part of the system’s capacity. The Evo One, for instance, is available in 8, 12 or 16-channel configurations activated by license: a room specified today at 8 channels can move to 12 or 16 later, without replacing the unit.
Hardware Modularity — Expand Your System as Your Needs Evolve
StormAudio processors are built on a modular card architecture. A system specified with 16 channels can be expanded with additional height channels or subwoofer outputs later. Analog outputs can be converted to digital by swapping a card. The same underlying architecture runs across the entire range, so an integrator who knows one StormAudio product knows them all.
This modularity makes phased projects possible. An installation can be specified to fit the initial budget and room, then extended as the project grows — additional height channels, a second row of seating or a different input configuration — without starting again from scratch.
The same logic applies to connectivity. As interface standards evolve, input and output boards can be replaced rather than the processor itself, so the core of the system stays in place while its connections keep pace. Backed by a five-year warranty, it is a long-term platform rather than a product with a fixed lifespan.
This is what allows a StormAudio installation to grow with the project rather than be replaced by it.
Our Quest For an HDMI Solution
Where we did not find a reliable enough HDMI solution on the market, we set out to develop the best performing HDMI module for our products. Our devices exemplify a seamless combination of software and hardware upgradability, best illustrated by our option that allows all our customers to effortlessly replace their current HDMI board with the latest available version for their products. This showcases how our offerings are designed to adapt and evolve, ensuring that customers can always stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in both software and hardware.
Our products are now equipped with the latest HDMI 2.1 board. This upgrade at the end of 2023 isn’t limited only to new clients; it is also accessible to existing StormAudio users. By ordering the new HDMI board and completing the installation process, coupled with a software update, every StormAudio user now has the opportunity to experience and benefit from the enhanced features of HDMI 2.1. This approach ensures that our valued customers can easily enjoy the advancements of this technology without the need for a complete system replacement.
