StormAudio achieves MPEG-H certification: A milestone in immersive audio innovation

At StormAudio, we are thrilled to announce a significant advancement in our journey to redefine immersive audio experiences: all our immersive sound processors are now certified for MPEG-H Audio. This milestone reflects our dedication to staying at the forefront of audio innovation and ensuring that our integrators and their clients have access to the most advanced technologies available.

MPEG-H Audio has been gaining widespread adoption in next-generation broadcast systems in countries such as South Korea, Brazil, and Japan. Its immersive and personalized audio capabilities are setting new standards for sound experiences worldwide. Recognizing its growing importance, we collaborated closely with Fraunhofer IIS, a global leader in audio research and development, to integrate this technology across our product range. As a result, MPEG-H support will be available on our future products:

For existing StormAudio products, this integration will be made possible through a hardware upgrade, ensuring that our customers can seamlessly benefit from this innovation without needing to replace their systems.

“Achieving MPEG-H certification is a significant milestone for StormAudio,” says Olivier Thumerel, CEO at StormAudio. “With the growing adoption of the MPEG-H Audio format in multiple countries and across Sony 360 Reality Audio streaming platforms, it became essential for us to integrate this technology into our products. This certification underlines our commitment to delivering the highest standards in immersive audio technology, ensuring our integrators and their clients experience unparalleled sound quality. We are proud to collaborate with Fraunhofer IIS, whose innovation continues to shape the future of audio.”

What is MPEG-H?

MPEG-H is an advanced audio codec designed to deliver immersive and interactive sound experiences. Unlike traditional audio formats, MPEG-H enables listeners to personalize their audio by adjusting elements such as dialogue, sound effects, and ambient noise levels.

This level of control is particularly valuable for live broadcasts, sports events, and home entertainment systems, where audience preferences can vary widely.

Additionally, MPEG-H supports 3D audio rendering, creating a sense of sound coming from all directions, which enhances the realism and depth of the listening experience.
